August 1-31, 2008.  We have managed to get a few loads going to Texas, but for the most part we are still running the eastern part of the country. We miss the longer coast to coast runs, but we are making good money with the shorter mileage loads.

We replaced our steer tires this month, we got over 160,000 miles out of them. We were running Goodyear tires and decided to stay with them.

I really like running in the summer. Late spring and summer is my favorite time of year, I love the warmer weather and longer daylight hours. I know once we get into the middle of September it’s all downhill weather wise. I hate the cold; you would think that growing up in the northeast I would be use to the cold, but not so. It also seems like the older I get, the more I dislike the cold.

Considering the price of fuel we are holding our own. The fuel surcharge has been a life saver for us. We have also been offered a lot of low rate loads, which we turn down. Donna and I have a set rate we go by, if the load doesn't meet that rate we refuse the load, or call dispatch and ask if they can bump up the rate. We can sometimes reach an acceptable rate with dispatch.  Blog Author  Top of Page  Bottom of Page
